Watts-and-time assumes the entered power for the entered time. Thermostats, compressors, heaters, and sensors may cycle.
This estimate includes energy priced per kWh. It does not remove fixed customer charges and may not capture taxes, demand charges, tiered rates, time-of-use periods, water, gas, or fuel.
Formulas and worked examples
Watts and time: kWh per use = (watts ÷ 1,000) × (minutes ÷ 60). At 1,500 W for 10 minutes, energy is 0.25 kWh.
Measured kWh: cost per use = measured kWh × price per kWh. At 0.5 kWh and 18.44¢/kWh, cost is $0.0922.
Annual kWh: annual cost = annual kWh × price per kWh. At 400 kWh/year and 18.44¢/kWh, cost is $73.76/year.
